Herbert Robert Smilie was born in 1968 in Winchester, Virginia. Hailing from a prestigious Southern Family, he is a proud direct-descendant of Col. Franklin King Beck, Commander of the 23rd Alabama Infantry during the War Between the States. He is also the 1st cousin, six times removed of President Thomas Jefferson.
He has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from George Mason University.
Bert is currently a Sr. Corporal for the Dallas Police Department. Prior to becoming a Police Officer he was a Budget Analyst for General Dynamics.
